In the city of Ottawa, monuments come in great number, different size, various shape. Some make you wonder what the artist was thinking when he created it, other make you pause and think. The one that I find the most poignant and the most central in the city is the Cenotaph with the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at its base. This monument was built after World War One to commemorate the Canadian soldiers who died during that conflict. Here is two picture one taken at night, the other during the day.
